Charles Leclerc is fifth in the 2026 drivers' championship on 215 points after the Singapore Grand Prix, 6 points behind Max Verstappen and 14 behind his Ferrari team-mate Lewis Hamilton. With 150 points left, he is still mathematically in the title fight, although Kimi Antonelli is 125 points ahead.

His season started with third place in Melbourne behind the two Mercedes. After the race he said Mercedes seemed to have a bit more pace, Reuters reported.

The high point came at Silverstone on 5 July. Leclerc took the lead early after both Ferraris got the better of pole-sitter Antonelli at the start, and he won a race that finished behind the safety car, 0.427 seconds ahead of George Russell. Al Jazeera noted it was his ninth Grand Prix win, his first since Austin in 2024 and Ferrari's 250th Grand Prix victory. "Finally, this one feels particularly good," he said on the radio.

At Yas Marina, Lights Out counts three podiums for Leclerc through 2024. The most recent was third place in 2024 from 19th on the grid, one of only two podiums at the track from outside the top six. Last year he finished fourth.

Ferrari have never won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, despite 12 podiums at the circuit through 2024. A Leclerc win on 6 December would be a first for the team at the season finale.
