Frieze's first fair in the region replaces Abu Dhabi Art, with Gagosian, Pace and leading UAE galleries on Saadiyat Island.
Frieze Abu Dhabi opens at Manarat Al Saadiyat in the Saadiyat Cultural District from 19 to 22 November 2026, The National reported. It is a rebrand of Abu Dhabi Art, which ran for 17 years, and the first Frieze fair in the West Asia, North Africa and South Asia region.
The fair brings 84 galleries from 63 cities in 36 countries. International names include Gagosian, Pace Gallery, Thaddaeus Ropac, Victoria Miro, Perrotin and Galleria Continua, alongside UAE galleries Carbon 12, Lawrie Shabibi, The Third Line, Tabari Artspace and Iris Projects, and regional galleries such as Athr and Hafez Gallery from Saudi Arabia.
Beyond the main section there is Focus, for younger galleries, Global Futures, with solo presentations by artists engaging with UAE and regional histories such as Ala Younis and Abdullah Al Saadi, and Frieze Masters Abu Dhabi, covering antiquity to the early 20th century with an inaugural theme on the Indian Ocean. The programme also includes the first Frieze Abu Dhabi Artist Award, Frieze Sculpture and talks.
Frieze runs the fair with the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, with Dyala Nusseibeh as fair director. Ticket prices had not been announced when The National reported.
