UFC 333 fight week: Usman and Song Yadong added to Abu Dhabi fan meets
Kamaru Usman meets fans at Yas Mall on Wednesday and Song Yadong at Yas Bay Waterfront on Friday, alongside the free press conference and weigh-ins.
Two more big names have joined Abu Dhabi Showdown Week ahead of UFC 333. According to The National on 20 October, former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman meets fans at Yas Mall on Wednesday, together with featherweight Jean Silva and Moroccan featherweight Marwan Rahiki.
Bantamweight contender Song Yadong follows on Friday at Yas Bay Waterfront from 7pm, with lightweight Mauricio Ruffy and heavyweight Sean Sharaf. Song is following the Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili trilogy closely as he chases a title shot. "I can't wait to meet the fans and experience the energy in Abu Dhabi," he told The National.
Usman called the city "a special place for me and for UFC" and said the week is a chance to connect with fans outside the Octagon. The fan meets come after the public workouts by the four title fighters: Alexander Volkanovski, Movsar Evloev, Yan and Dvalishvili.
The UFC 333 press conference is on Thursday from 4pm to 5.30pm at Etihad Arena and is free to attend. Official weigh-ins are closed to the public on Friday at 8am, while the ceremonial weigh-ins at Etihad Arena run from 4pm to 6.30pm that afternoon, preceded by a live Q&A with Aljamain Sterling and Rahiki.
Power Slap 25 also takes place on Friday at Space42 Arena, headlined by the super heavyweight rematch between Dayne Viernes and Vasilii Kamotskii. UFC 333 itself is on Saturday 24 October at Etihad Arena, with the prelims around 6pm UAE time and the main card around 10pm.
