Maz Jobrani brings Catch Me While You Can to Etihad Arena on 7 November

Maz Jobrani plays Etihad Arena on Saturday 7 November as part of Abu Dhabi Comedy Season, with his Catch Me While You Can tour.

He has been a regular in the UAE, sharing an Etihad Arena bill with Mo Amer in 2023 and appearing with Bassem Youssef at the first Abu Dhabi Comedy Week in 2024, FACT Magazine reported.

Jobrani was born in Tehran in 1972 and moved to California with his parents at six, growing up in Tiburon near San Francisco. He studied at UC Berkeley and began a PhD in political science before leaving to act.

Casting directors kept offering him terrorist roles, including on 24, which gave the title to his memoir I'm Not a Terrorist, But I've Played One On TV. From 2005 to 2011 he toured with the Axis of Evil Comedy Tour alongside Ahmed Ahmed and Aron Kader, playing sold-out shows in the US, Dubai, Lebanon, Egypt, Kuwait and Jordan, according to the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

His specials include Brown & Friendly (2009), I Come in Peace (2013), the Netflix special Immigrant (2017), filmed at the Kennedy Center, and The Birds & The Bees (2023). Carnegie named him a Great Immigrants honoree in 2025, and The National says his 7 November set covers immigrant life, cultural misunderstandings and family expectations.
