Volkanovski at 37: the champion's record before UFC 333, and his unfinished business in Abu Dhabi
Two title reigns, seven title wins and a return to the city where he lost to Islam Makhachev in 2023.
Alexander Volkanovski defends the UFC featherweight title against unbeaten Movsar Evloev at Etihad Arena on Saturday 24 October. He turned 37 last month and holds a professional record of 28 wins and 4 losses.
He first won the title by beating Max Holloway at UFC 245 in December 2019, then defended it five times: Holloway again, Brian Ortega, Chan Sung Jung, Holloway a third time and Yair Rodríguez.
His only defeats in the UFC came in 2023 and 2024. He lost twice to Islam Makhachev at lightweight, the second time by first-round knockout at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, then lost the featherweight title to Ilia Topuria at UFC 298.
He won the vacant title back against Diego Lopes at UFC 314 in April 2025 and beat Lopes again in Sydney in February 2026.
UFC 333 is his first fight in Abu Dhabi since the Makhachev loss, against a 20-0 challenger who has never been beaten.
