The 50-day countdown to the 2026 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix began on Thursday 15 October, and several ticket categories are already gone. Arab News reported on 16 October that the Main Grandstand, North Grandstand and several other categories are fully booked, and that promoter Ethara expects the event to sell out.

Fans from 106 countries are expected on Yas Island for the 3-6 December weekend, and the Paddock Club has more than 12,000 guests. Ethara chief executive Saif Al Noaimi told Khaleej Times that sales are ahead of the same point last year: "We are starting to see, in the last couple of weeks, international sales picking up." The 2025 race drew a record 339,000 fans.

This year's grid has 11 teams, the first time that many have raced in Abu Dhabi. The Formula 2 season will also finish at Yas Marina, and a new sprint series owned by Yas Marina Circuit, Azzam GT, makes its debut as a non-championship Trophy Round. General manager Ali Al Beshr described it as a championship "born in Abu Dhabi", though its format and entry list have not been announced.

The title fight could be settled before the teams arrive. Kimi Antonelli leads on 340 points, ahead of George Russell on 238 and Lewis Hamilton on 229, with Austin, Mexico, Brazil, Las Vegas and Qatar still to come before Abu Dhabi. After the chequered flag, the Yasalam concerts run across the weekend, with The Chainsmokers and The Script closing on race night. The race itself is on Sunday 6 December at Yas Marina Circuit.
