Ebru Gündeş in Abu Dhabi: who she is before her Etihad Arena concert
One of Türkiye's best-selling singers brings three decades of ballads to Yas Island on 15 January 2027.

Turkish singer Ebru Gündeş plays Etihad Arena on Friday 15 January 2027. Gulf News reports the show follows sold-out concerts in Istanbul and marks more than three decades of her music.
Born in Istanbul on 12 October 1974, Gündeş released her debut album, Tanrı Misafiri, in 1993. Her 1999 album Dön Ne Olur became one of Türkiye's best-selling records, and later releases include Şahane (2003), Araftayım (2014), Âşık (2019) and Aşığım Hâlâ (2023).
Her career has not been free of hardship. In December 1999, while recording Dön Ne Olur, she suffered a brain haemorrhage and needed two operations, before going on to make a full recovery.
Many viewers also know her from television. She was a judge on O Ses Türkiye, the Turkish version of The Voice, and before that on Popstar Alaturka alongside Bülent Ersoy and Orhan Gencebay.
She already has a following among Arabic-speaking audiences. In February 2026 she shared a Riyadh stage with Syrian singer Assala in front of 15,000 people, and the pair sang Gönlümün Efendisi and Aktar in both Turkish and Arabic, NTV reported. Gulf News expects the Abu Dhabi setlist to span her whole career.
