Kimi Antonelli's 2026 F1 season so far: wins, records and the road to Abu Dhabi
The 20-year-old Mercedes driver leads the championship by 102 points with six races left before the Yas Marina finale.

Kimi Antonelli heads into the final six races of the 2026 Formula 1 season on 340 points, 102 clear of his Mercedes team-mate George Russell. The last of those races is the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit from 4 to 6 December.
His first Grand Prix win came in China on 15 March, from pole, after he had become the youngest pole-sitter in F1 history. Gulf News reported that he was in tears as he took in the victory. He won again in Japan two weeks later and, as PlanetF1 noted, became the youngest driver ever to lead the championship.
The wins kept coming in Miami, Canada and Monaco, where he became the youngest driver to win the race. He added Belgium in July and then his home race at Monza in September, winning from 19th on the grid after an engine penalty. He was the first Italian to win at Monza in 60 years.
It has not all gone his way. A late engine failure in Barcelona ended his run of consecutive wins, and a mechanical problem at Silverstone left him 15th. A week after Monza he won again at the new Madring circuit in Madrid, the first Spanish Grand Prix held there.
Antonelli was born in Bologna on 25 August 2006 and turned 20 in August. RacingNews365 notes that the title would make him the youngest world champion, beating Sebastian Vettel's record by more than three years, and the first Italian champion since Alberto Ascari in 1953.
It is a big step from his rookie season in 2025, when he scored 150 points, finished seventh and did not win a race. He can still clinch the title before December, but if the fight goes the distance, Yas Marina will settle it.
