Mexico City follows Austin on the 2026 calendar, and last year's race there was a turning point in the title fight. Lando Norris started from pole and won the 71-lap race by 30.324 seconds from Charles Leclerc, according to the FIA. It was his sixth win of 2025, and it put him one point ahead of McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri in the standings.

Leclerc briefly led after a multi-car incident at Turn 1 and the following chicane but handed the place back to Norris. Max Verstappen finished third, 31.049 seconds behind the winner and less than a second behind Leclerc.

Lewis Hamilton and Verstappen collided, and Hamilton received a 10-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage, finishing eighth. Verstappen was cleared.

The surprise of the day was Oliver Bearman, who finished fourth for Haas, the best result of his career. Piastri was fifth, ahead of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell. A late Virtual Safety Car, caused by Carlos Sainz stopping in the stadium section on lap 70, helped Bearman hold on.

A year later Antonelli leads the championship. Once Mexico is done, only Brazil, Las Vegas, Qatar and the Abu Dhabi finale on Sunday 6 December remain.
