Petr Yan open to a featherweight move, but not against "my friend Alex"
Both champions defend on the same UFC 333 card. Yan says 145 sounds interesting, but he won't fight Volkanovski.
Petr Yan says a move up to featherweight "sounds interesting", and could happen "somewhere in the future". He said so in an interview with Full Violence, as reported by MMA Mania.
There is one fight he does not want there: Alexander Volkanovski, whom he called "my friend Alex". "I don't want to beat him up," Yan said.
First comes UFC 333 at Etihad Arena on Saturday 24 October, where both men defend their titles on the same card. Yan faces Merab Dvalishvili in the bantamweight co-main event, and Volkanovski defends the featherweight belt against Movsar Evloev.
Yan has already said he gives Volkanovski the edge over Evloev, even though Evloev is a fellow Russian.
