Verdi's Opera Gala at Emirates Palace on 29 November: soloists and programme
Soprano Maria Agresta and tenor Giorgio Berrugi sing Verdi with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in a UAE premiere for the Abu Dhabi Festival.
Verdi's Opera Gala comes to Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi on Sunday 29 November 2026 as part of the Abu Dhabi Festival. According to the festival's event page, doors open at 7pm and the concert runs from 8pm to 9.30pm.
Soprano Maria Agresta and tenor Giorgio Berrugi are the soloists, with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by David Crescenzi. The National notes that the gala marks 125 years since Verdi's death.
The programme moves through Verdi's career, from the Nabucco overture and three arias from his first opera, Oberto, to Rigoletto's Questa o quella, the La traviata duet Parigi, o cara, and music from Luisa Miller, Simon Boccanegra, Otello, I vespri siciliani and Un ballo in maschera.
Seating is allocated, and late arrivals are admitted only during an interval if the programme has one. The festival offers reduced student tickets for those aged 23 and under, and discounts for People of Determination.
