Vir Das brings I Say We Run to Coca-Cola Arena: Emmys, Netflix and Dubai roots
The International Emmy winner closes Dubai Comedy Festival on Sunday 18 October with a new show first billed as Hey Stranger.

Vir Das headlines Coca-Cola Arena on Sunday 18 October at 8pm, closing the seventh Dubai Comedy Festival. FACT Magazine reports that his new show is called I Say We Run; it toured earlier under the title Hey Stranger before he renamed it.
Das told FACT the show is not a manifesto disguised as stand-up. Platinumlist lists the night as an English-language show and says nobody under 16 will be admitted.
He has an old connection to the city. Early in his career he performed comedy sketches in the corner of a Dubai restaurant, he told FACT, and he finds the mix of backgrounds in a Dubai crowd both a challenge and a thrill.
Das was born in Dehradun in 1979, spent part of his childhood in Lagos, Nigeria, and studied economics and theatre at Knox College in Illinois. Film audiences know him from Delhi Belly and Go Goa Gone, and in January 2026 he released Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, his debut as a director, produced by Aamir Khan Productions.
On Netflix he has released Abroad Understanding (2017), Losing It (2018), For India (2020), Landing (2022) and Fool Volume (2025). Landing won the International Emmy for comedy in 2023, and a year later he became the first Indian to host the International Emmy Awards.
