Nico Rosberg closed the 2015 season with a win from pole at Yas Marina on 29 November. It was his sixth victory of the year and his third in a row, Formula1.com reported, after Lewis Hamilton had already secured the title.

Hamilton tried a different strategy to beat his Mercedes team-mate. He extended his second stint, hoping fresher soft tyres would help him at the end, and made his final stop on lap 41, ten laps after Rosberg. He came out 12.5 seconds behind, cut the gap to 6.8 seconds with four laps left, but traffic blunted the charge and Rosberg won by 8.271 seconds.

Kimi Raikkonen finished third for Ferrari, 19.430 seconds back, which secured him fourth in the drivers' standings. Sergio Perez took fifth for Force India, holding off Daniel Ricciardo's Red Bull.

The final table showed Hamilton on 381 points, Rosberg on 322 and Sebastian Vettel on 278. Mercedes won the constructors' title with 703 points, ahead of Ferrari on 428. A year later Rosberg would return to Abu Dhabi to clinch his own title. The 2026 finale is on Sunday 6 December.
