Cats the Musical in Abu Dhabi: Etihad Arena run from 4 to 13 June 2027
Andrew Lloyd Webber's long-running show, home of the song Memory, brings the Jellicle Ball to Yas Island next summer.

Cats the Musical plays Etihad Arena on Yas Island from Friday 4 June to Sunday 13 June 2027. FACT Magazine reports that the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi and Miral are partners in bringing the production to the city.
The show is Andrew Lloyd Webber's setting of T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. It opened at the New London Theatre in 1981 and moved to Broadway's Winter Garden Theatre in 1982. FACT says it has since toured more than 30 countries in 15 languages and been seen by more than 73 million people.
The story unfolds at the Jellicle Ball, a midnight gathering on a scrapheap, where a tribe of cats chooses one of its own to rise to the Heaviside Layer and be reborn. Characters include Rum Tum Tugger, Mr. Mistoffelees, the villain Macavity and Grizabella, the faded Glamour Cat, whose song Memory is the emotional centre of the night, Gulf News notes.
The performance runs 2 hours 45 minutes. Platinumlist recommends it for ages 6 and up and does not admit children under 6, and under-16s must be with an adult aged 21 or over.
Doors open an hour before the show, and latecomers may be held outside for up to 18 minutes at the start of each act. Lloyd Webber's other stage work includes The Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita and Starlight Express.
