Etihad Arena seating plan and capacity explained: how big is it?
Abu Dhabi's Yas Bay arena holds up to 18,000 but can shrink to a 500-seat theatre. Here is how the layout works.

Etihad Arena sits on Yas Bay in the south of Yas Island and holds up to 18,000 people, which Etihad describes as the largest multipurpose indoor venue in the UAE. It opened to the public in January 2021. The building covers about 38,000 square metres and was designed by the architecture firm HOK.
Capacity is not fixed. HOK says the modular seating lets the arena scale from around 500 guests for intimate events up to 18,000 for concerts and sports. Etihad adds that seating blocks are reconfigured for each event and that some layouts reduce the total capacity.
That is why the same room can host a UFC card, a seated orchestral show and a stand-up night within a few weeks, each with its own seat map. The layout for one event tells you little about the next, so always check the plan for your specific show before choosing seats.
Premium options include Club Seating with access to the Club Lounge, and private hospitality suites. The National's guide notes two licensed public lounges on the mezzanine floor, plus bars on the ground floor, main concourse and upper concourse. Accessible seating is also available.
Concessions and bars are cashless and take cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Outside, the facade uses adjustable sun-shade louvres and built-in solar panels, and it lights up over Yas Bay at night. Upcoming nights include Hans Zimmer on 13 November, Tarkan on 27 November and Andrea Bocelli on 2 December.
